Sodium is an alkali metal elements white-silver, highly reactive metal and is soft. Sodium can react violently with water to form sodium hydroxide and hydrogen gas.
The element sodium found in nature in the form of mineral salts such as sodium chloride (NaCl), sodium carbonate (Na2CO3), and sodium sulfate (Na2SO4). To obtain sodium can be made by electrolysis of molten NaCl.
